Paul McTague is a Partner at Martin, Magnuson, McCarthy & Kenney, where he has concentrated his practice in the trial and appeal of complex civil litigation matters, including professional liability and product liability cases, for the past 36 years. He is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Suffolk University and a 1983 graduate of the Boston University School of Law. He is a member of the Massachusetts Bar and practices in the Federal Courts in the First Circuit.

Paul is an experienced trial lawyer and his practice is primarily focused on the representation of physicians, nurses and other health care providers, health care institutions and group practices. Mr. McTague has significant experience in successfully representing practitioners of numerous specialties in medical malpractice trials and arbitrations, as well as before Boards of Registration, which govern licensed health care providers. He has assisted hospitals, and their staff, in responding to and participating in investigations by the Department of Public Health. Mr. McTague has also represented hospitals and clinicians in matters before state and federal agencies relating to issues involving medical practice, HIPAA and other privacy issues.

Mr. McTague also has significant experience, including at trial to verdict, in representation of product manufacturers.

As a result of his practice and experience, Paul has frequently been requested to provide presentations to continuing legal education programs, at continuing medical education seminars and programs and at hospital seminars for staff physicians and house officers. He is also asked to lecture on legal and risk management issues by clients and their insurers.

In 2012, Paul was inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. Fellowship in the College is extended by invitation, and only after careful investigation, to those experienced trial lawyers of diverse backgrounds, who have mastered the art of advocacy and whose careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, professionalism, civility and collegiality. Fellowship in the College cannot exceed one percent of the lawyers of any State. In addition, Paul has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America and as a Massachusetts and New England “Super Lawyer.”

Outside of the office, Paul enjoys spending time with his wife, Patti, a successful real estate agent, and his two daughters, Kara, a Licensed Social Worker involved with the mental health care of adolescents, and Allison, an attorney working with a nationally recognized law firm in Boston.
